Why is the application market of high purity alumina more and more extensive

High purity alumina refers to alumina with purity grade higher than 99.9% (5N). It is a precious and high-value product, which can be widely used in a series of applications, such as high-performance electronic products, tablet computers, smart phones and computer screen backlight; LED and hybrid cars.

High purity alumina is a special type of alumina, known for its excellent hardness, high brightness, electrical insulation (non-conductor), super abrasion resistance and high corrosion resistance, as well as its high temperature resistance.

It is used in automatic sensor applications such as alumina bases for its excellent electrical insulation and high heat resistance. High purity alumina is also used in semiconductor components because of its high plasma corrosion resistance.

Although high purity alumina is used in a range of markets, more than 60% of it is reported to be used in the LED industry. According to the report, the worldwide production of high purity alumina is 15,000 tons per year, with the expected compound annual growth rate of about 7%, driven by the demand of LED market. The price of high purity alumina ranges from us $30 per kg to us $300 per kg, depending on its purity level, particle size and structure.
